What a glorious, wonderful time for Christians everywhere! The resurrection of our Lord fills us with eternal hope and joy! How blessed we are to have such a Savior, that He would choose to leave His rightful, royal place of honor and glory to come and live among us, as one of us.
It's almost unimaginable that the Son of almighty God, the Creator of the Universe would CHOOSE to leave his Father just to prove to us how much He loves us! What overwhelms and humbles me, is meditating on the consequences of this choice. Not only did He come to live among us, but He came poor, humbly, quietly. He didn't come the way most Kings or royalty would come, with all the pomp and excitement. (Think of the royal wedding!!) Everything He did was counter culture....He lifted up the poor, chose to hang out with the down and out, or those maligned by society, healed those who asked or needed healing, (even those most unworthy) fed the thousands, taught without judgement, and accepted all. Yet, this quiet humble God-man changed the world like no other ever before or since.
Nothing about Jesus was as we would have expected. Even His very own disciples had trouble getting a hold of His radical way of accepting and loving. I think that is why this newest GPK video message is so important for us to share with even the youngest of children. In this episode, AJ's earnest prayer to God to help him find a right fielder for the big game is answered by God, just not exactly in the way AJ had hoped, or had imagined. God always hears and God always answers....His timing is perfect and His answers are perfect! We are the imperfect ones...our prayers and desires are imperfect too. This is why we must work our whole lives, (starting from the time we are very young) to pray to our sweet Lord about ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, (yes, even a child's baseball game!), talk to Him about everything that is in our hearts (our worries, fears, joys, uncertainties...) and then....wait and trust. And...when the answer comes, (because the answer will always come....God promises this) look up, smile and say, "Thank you Jesus, I trust in you!"
Sometimes, we may also say, like AJ, "Just not sure what you're thinking here Lord but nevertheless.... I trust in you." After all... you are the one that trusted when it looked like everything had failed. Anyone who looked at you hanging on that cross, completely ravaged and torn would think your mission had failed. But, the resurrection was waiting. (Praise God!)
Thank you, Jesus for loving us. For teaching us to pray to you and to trust in you. For teaching us that living a full and faithful life means bearing and carrying difficult crosses, and thank you for teaching us that whatever cross we carry, if we carry it with You, will lead to a glorious, eternal resurrection. Jesus...we trust in you!
Happy, Blessed Easter to all!
