A Faithful Friend

Well, the snow is gone already (that's the East Coast for you!!), the rain is coming in buckets and. . . I am dog sitting Brian's (aka Howard) dog named Rocky. I can't believe the lessons I am learning just watching him. For all of you dog owners and dog lovers, this is nothing new, but to me, it's amazing! He rarely ever leaves my side. When I run up the stairs. . .up he goes, When I come back down, he's right behind me . . . Cooking in the kitchen?. . . at my feet. . . Working at the computer. . . curled up right beside me. It makes me smile. . . man's best friend! What an incredible lesson in faithfulness. Whether or not I am paying any attention to him, he is at my side, and just happy to be near me. How this reminds me of our God and His unceasing faithfulness. I may be unfocused, unfaithful or inattentive but nevertheless, He is right beside me, loving me, waiting for me, listening to me, watching me. I am treasuring this experience with Rocky, not only because he's an adorable, fun-loving dog, but because he has visibly shown me the exact kind of faithfulness that I want to have in my faith walk. I want to stay by my Lord's side every minute of every day and for always, regardless of what I may see, think or feel. He is with us faithfully by our side just waiting, watching, supporting and loving. I know this, but I am so thankful that God so patiently and lovingly reminds me of this time and time again.
Thank you God, for your faithfulness! Thank you for never leaving us. Thank you for loving us so unconditionally and thank you for showing us in so many, many ways that you are here.

With love,
lisa
